3. Course contents *

Students will learn what interpreting is and how it differs from translation. They will learn about the different forms and contexts of interpreting, and about the necessary skills an interpreter needs to possess.

After a theoretical introduction, students will start to acquire basic interpreting skills, in both English and Dutch. Classes will consist of exercisis for listening comprehension, fluency, interpreting off the page, consecutive interpreting. Students will need to prepare for classes by actively staying up-to-date with current affairs in both English and Dutch and by preparing texts and vocabulary at home before class.
