3. Course contents *

In this course, students are introduced to the basic skills needed for interpreting through theory and practical exercises. During the lectures, attention is paid to the differences between translation and interpreting, basic concepts from interpreting studies, contexts in which interpreting is needed, the different forms of interpreting and the working conditions of interpreters. We will also look in greater depth at what distinguishes professional interpreters from non-professional interpreters. The course focuses on practical exercises aimed at improving communication skills, linguistic skills and cognitive skills in Dutch and French.
