3. Course contents *

Legal methodology introduces students in legal heuristics and in the ways how lawyers collect relevant legislative, judicial and doctrinal source materials. Students learn how they read, analyze and apply these in a legal case. This makes them familiar with the identification of legal questions and the formulation of research questions. They learn how to write a legal advice, in preparation of the legal methodology courses in the following years.

After a common introduction on the Belgian legal system and legal sources in the first weeks of the academic year, students will work in small groups in the faculty's practice library. Active preparation and participation is required.

Evaluation is based on permanent evaluation and a final test in the June exam period.
