Following the basic course in social security law, this practical course seeks to examine a number of selected topics of social security law; every year, several sectors of social security are studied, e.g. sickness and maternity, unemployment, occupational accidents and diseases, pensions, ... The topics are explored on the basis of texts (case law and/or legal doctrine, or current events) presented via Blackboard, and a concrete case or assignment (debate, advice or conclusion, presentation, ...). Students have to prepare the concrete cases or assignments in writing. This written preparation has to be handed in during class. However, the final assessment will focus primarily (but not exclusively) on the students' oral skills.
