3. Course contents *

Comte, Marx, Durkheim, Weber, Mead and Simmel are the founders of sociology as a science and as an intellectual tradition. They were ambitious, even dangerous thinkers. Till today, their ideas are of great importance for (and far beyond) sociology. But since sociologists are supposed to be at the height of (their) time, they have to learn to think with the classical authors against them. That intellectual adventure is being undertaken in this course.
