At the start of this course the student should have acquired the following competences:

general notion of the basic concepts of

complex numbers, differential and integral calculus, network theory (laws of Ohm and Kirchhoff)

- The student is able to analyse and model time continuous and time discrete systems using the Fourier- and Laplace-transform(EI-K4)
- The student is able to calculate the transient response of a system (EI-K4)
- The student is able to draw systems' frequency responses (Bode plot). (EI-K4)
- The student is able to reason about systems and their models (EI-K4)

- The time domain: time continuous and time discrete signals and systems, the block diagram, the impulse response, the convolution.
- The continuous frequency domain: the transition from Fourier's series to Fourier's transformation by taking the period to infinity. Application: the calculation of the frequency response.
- The complex frequency domain: the transition form Fourier's transformation to Laplace's transformation. Application: the calculation of the transient response via inverse Laplace transformation.
- Modelling LTI systems, and reasoning about the usefulness of this model type
- Analyzing various systems through LTI approaches
