At the start of this course the student should have acquired the following competences:

- general knowledge of the use of a PC and the Internet
general notion of the basic concepts of
Mathematics (integrals, differential equations). Notions of electricity.

De student should have a basic knowledge of:
- fluid mechanics (flow of ideal and real fluids, Bernoulli's law, resistance calculation of flow-through entities, elements of pumps);
- time-dependent mass and energy balances;
- time-dependent heat and mass transfer (1st and 2nd law of Fourier, calculation of heat exchangers, 1st and 2nd law of Fick).
