3. Course contents *

Several chromatographic and electrochemical analysis techniques are highlighted in this course. Next to discussing the fundamental principles of these techniques also some technical aspects and practical examples will be discussed. Concrete the course consists of the following parts: 

  1. Chromatografic Analysis 
    1. General aspects of chromatographic separations
    2. Gas chromatography
    3. HPLC
    4. Gel permeation chromatography
    5. Ion chromatography
  2. Spectroscopy
    1. General aspects: light
    2. UV/VIS
    3. FTIR and NIR
    4. X-rays: XRF and XRD
    5. NMR
  3. Practica 
  4. Analytical project 

Practicals: Students choose at least one experiment from three different analyses types: spectrometric techniques, chromatographic techniques and electrochemical techniques. The various possible tests are provided by the lecturers. 

Analytical project: students execute defined projects with industrial relevance in group. The goal of the project is to apply the acquired knowledge/experience regarding analytical techniques to a concrete engineering problem.
