3. Course contents *

The course is built up starting from clinical syndromes. The drugs used for treatment are discussed: (1) Indications, doses and correct use of drugs. (2) How to build up a therapy. (3) Adverse effects of drugs and how to treat them. (4) Drug interactions (clinical relevance, mechanism, alternatives) and interactions with food. (5) Comparison of drugs within a pharmacological class. Guidelines for an optimal choice. (6) Co-morbidity. (7) Contra-indications. (8) How to withdraw a drug and/or change to another one. (9) New drugs within a pharmacological class. (10) Pharmaceutical care.
