3. Course contents *

In this optional course module an overview of the most important energy sources will be given, with a main emphasis on renewable energy sources. Both the type of energy carrier and the importance are important and will be covered in the course module, including fossil energy sources, renewable energy sources, solar energy, nuclear energy. Specific attention will be devoted to a more intensive use of renewable energy sources – in particular biomass – within the framework of the enhanced greenhouse effect, of durable development and of climatic changes. Mainly the interactions between and the mutual dependence of the different aspects of the energy issue (as energy production, environmental impact, durability) will be covered in the course module. The mutual relationships between energy, industry and the environment will be discussed in the light of the demand for renewable energy sources.
