3. Course contents *

In this course, students are guided through 'BIOCOM', an online interactive course module for academic writing in biology.
Through 300 real life examples (taken from papers written by fellow students), you will learn to
1) avoid the most frequent grammatical errors made by Dutch-speaking academics when writing in English,
2) compose a scientific article,
3) build and improve scientific argumentation.

Simultaneously, you write a research paper, preferentially (but not necessarily) based on your own data collected for your thesis or individual project. During contact- and feedback sessions you will be guided through the linguistic challenges (both structural and lexical) and textual improvements will be discussed in detail.

Lecturers will also share some tricks-of-the-trade on how NOT to be a rejected author.
