3. Course contents *

The following analytical methods are discussed:   

(a) bulk-XRF: energy- and wavelength dispersive instrumentation and electronics,  (b) quantitative analysis: spectrum evaluation and quantification models,  (c) micro-XRF: X-ray optics, applications, comparison with other micro-analytical methods,  (d) total reflection XRF: principle, pro and cons relative to conventional XRF,  (e)  ion-beam analysis methods (IBA) (f) variants based on synchrotron radiation: storage ring design, advantages of synchrotron radiation, comparison to conventional XRF, crystal and multilayer monochromators,  (g) X-ray absorption spectroscopy,  X-ray photo-electron spectroscopy and scanning Auger (electron) spectroscopy, 

(h)  X-ray radiography and X-ray tomography
