After an introduction on the importance of orality in Latin American literature and popular music, the approach will be illustrated by analyzing La guaracha del Macho Camacho (Sánchez). The bolero-genre is studied in a more extensive way, because it allows the students to question contemporary literary theories that are often applied to Latin American literature (queer reading, postmodernism, postcolonial theories, theories on mass culture and popular culture). Some works will be analysed in order to illustrate the different approaches.
