3. Course contents *

This course follows the bachelor course "Pharmaceutical Biotechnology". The student continues to explore methods of molecular biology used in the fields of drug development and molecular diagnostics. The student learns how to retrieve useful information from public data bases containing DNA and protein sequences and to analyse these data with bioinformatics. Exercises are provide on the analysis of protein structures and the interactions between drugs and their target proteins. Theoretical classes provide background on the structure and maps of the human genome and single-gene disorders. We also discuss a number of techniques for the study of gene expression and proteomics.
