3. Course contents *

In this course, the literature on Enterprise Architectures (high-level designs of organizations and information systems) is summarized, and the TOGAF- and Zachman frameworks are discussed.  Next, it is explained that these frameworks lack prescriptive theories and principles which are needed for developing large, complex systems such as Enterprise Architectures.  The Design and Engineering Methodology for Organizations (DEMO) is extensively discussed, as an example of a design theory which applies engineering principles to the analysis and design of organizations.  Finally, a number of applications and cases of this methodology in practice are discussed.
