3. Course contents *

In a first part, a limited number of lectures will be given on the physical, chemical, genetical, molecular biological and computer-based strategies for analysis of protein-protein interactions, with an accent on methods that allow high-throughput screening. The possibilities to work with extended databases and computer algorithms to map the protein-protein interactions on a large scale, will be discussed. Terms and concepts concerning networks will also be explained.

In a second part, the students will be asked to write, on the basis of several recently published papers, a dataset and by the use of Cytoscape , a report on protein-protein interactions. Depending on the number of student, this will be done individually or in group. During this process, students explore, together with the teachers, the different possibilities (literture search, use of online programs) to come to scientific relevant results and conclusions.
