3. Course contents *

The course content can be devided in 5 chapters:

1) Innovation and Intellectual property rights: what and why?

2) Patents: some history, what, inventions, patentability requirements, content and publication of a patent, the EPC and PCT, priority, EP law versus US law, patents and biological material, information about patents, applicants and inventors, oppositions, cost, infringement...

3) Patents and information: exercices via patent databases

4) agreements and patents: confidentiality agreements, material transfer agreements, licenses, R&D agreements...

5)Innovation and start-ups; general principles, who is involved in setting-up a start-up, investing, private versus public companies, capital increases, shares and the market, examples of a biotech start-up...
