3. Course contents *

The scientific method in general and the method as applied on therapeutics in particular.  Terms such as hypothesis, historical context, falsifiability, probability, technology review, bias, science-antiscience-pseudoscience, relativism, consilience, personal epistemology, evidence based, authority based.  Homeopathy from the point of view of the homeopath and the critical pharmacists.  Some technical aspects of homoeopathic remedies and their legislation.  Examples and practical individual development of a scientific analysis of “medicines information” as described in the expected learning outcomes.

Topics that are briefly discussed:

- Economical aspects of marketing and advertising by big pharmaceutical companies and their influences on physicians..

- Economy/Science/Legislation of generic drugs

- Research ethics  -- historic cases and current problems.

- ghost writing, publication bias, fraud... in research.
