3. Course contents *

The Behavioural Neuroscience course focusses on the BRAIN-BEHAVIOUR link and includes three main aspects:

1 - Methodological appraches to study the brain-behaviour link

e.g  Neuroanatomical substrates of behaviour; Microdialysis (+ neurochemical – behavioural correlates); Evaluation of brain activity; Neurocognitive testing; Pharmacological modulation behavioural alterations / neuropsychopharmacology

2 - Behavioural aspects and CNS control of several forms of normal behaviour

e.g. Ingestive behaviour; Emotions (facial expression & recognition of emotions and neurobiology of happiness); Personality – Novelty seeking behaviour – addiction; Learning & memory; Sleep and circadian rhythms; Cerebellum: nonmotor function and language/communication; Olfaction & gustation; Frontal lobe function.

Sleep and diurnal rhythms, ingestive behaviour, facial expression & recognition of emotions, cognitive and behavioural function, including language and communication, 

3 - Behavioural aspects and CNS control of several forms of pathologicalbehaviour

e.g. Aggression, Anxiety, Pain, BPSD/NPS, Eating disorders; Drug abuse; Speech disorders
