3. Course contents *

Several topics are treated. For each topic one or two original papers from the international literature are read. A good preparation of these articles by the students is required. The same goes for active collaboration during the lessons

Examples of topics: the role of general cognitive principles during language acquisition (nature vs. nurture), specific problems during speech recognition, the role of morphology in visual word recognition, the bilingual mental lexicon (how do bilinguals recognize words that belong to two languages, such as interlingual homographs - room, trap - and cognates - film, bed), language problems and language deficits, such as dyslexia and aphasia, ...
