3. Course contents *

In the course on Techniques, the exchanges of energy, fluids and information between building and environment, the inhabitants and processes are taken as a starting point  for conceptual construction design strategies.
To be able to integrate all building physics related possible design solutions, requires a thorough knowledge and competence of the student using all his creative possibilities  ( cultural, intuition, innovation..) to produce architectural solutions for the constructional aspects for what is commonly understood under  M&E services in a specific context and for a specific user or process.
Case studies are introduced to learn how to use "default" solutions that have been appropriate in the past and today. Based on this set of possible solutions, we then look for the solutions for tomorrow's demands. Parallel herewith we explore the ways consulting engineers use tools and problem solving techniques to validate or finalize the designs.

The course focuses on the design aspects related to energy, sound, air and water treatment and information systems in the built environment.

This academic year a specific attention will be spent on what flows are and do.
