3. Course contents *

Research Project part 1 and 2 mentors the student through the process of the independent writing of a research proposal. In Research Project 1, students learn the concepts of scientific writing, the types of plagiarism and the methods for literature review. They are though important skills of a professional epidemiologist including (1) perform a critical literature review, (2) develop a research question, its hypothesis and rationale, (3) translate a research question into specific study aims, (4) write a executive summary of a research study proposal in scientific writing style, applying specified formatting guidelines and appropriately referenced, (6) constructively review research proposals written by peer students and (7) make a formal oral presentation to a group of peer students.
While many activities are independent and occur out of the classroom, the lecturer mentors all students on a weekly basis through written or oral feedback on all assignments
