3. Course contents *

Research Project part 1 and 2 mentors the student through the process of the independent writing of a research proposal. In Research Project 2, students apply the concepts of scientific writing and methods for literature review. They are though important skills of a professional epidemiologist including (1) perform a critical literature review, (2) write an executive summary of a research study proposal in scientific writing style, (3) write a complete proposal including all relevant sections, (4) apply specified formatting guidelines, (5) appropriately reference the proposal, (6) develop a timeline for the proposed research, (7) develop a budget for the proposed research, (8) constructively review research proposals written by peer students and (9) make a formal oral presentation to a group of peer students.

While many activities are independent and occur out of the classroom, the lecturer mentors all students on a weekly basis through written or oral feedback on all assignments.
