3. Course contents *

The course provides an introduction to the principles and applications of high-throughput and systems approaches of omics disciplines in fundamental and applied research. Addressed disciplines include functional genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, proteomics, pharmacogenomics, metabolomics, imaging and systems biology.

The students will become acquainted with the global and integrative approach of these disciplines to characterize biological systems.  They will be educated how to work at interfaces and to seek both diversity and incorporation in solving complex biological questions.

Further, based on a series of state-of-the-art invited lectures the student will learn how these disciplines lead to the advancement of cutting-edge research and development in various fields of biosciences for improvement of society’s quality of life.

A hands-on experience will be gained in practical sessions and exercises focused on the advancements in omics disciplines, including learning to handle massive biological data sets.
