The internal and/or external supervisor may ask for the master's thesis to be conducted entirely in the official language of the company/organization/research group if this is necessary for its proper functioning. This should be known before the start of the master's thesis.

The student investigates an advanced technical-scientific problem, in which the following items are discussed: organization and preparation of the master's thesis, literature study and practical implementation.
He/she has the opportunity to carry out the master's thesis in a company or in a research group at the university.

The assignment of the master's thesis can vary from scientific research, the realization of a design, simulation and optimization within a research question oriented in civil engineering.
The student creates a portfolio that contains the following elements:
- data that show that he/she has a sufficient approach to achieve a technical realization with the emphasis on the research skills and the planning of the research.
- data/reports that show that he/she has gone through the process well, with particular attention to the technical realization and teamwork.

He/she writes an English paper that meets scientific standards in terms of content and form, including the following elements: problem definition, research methodology and methods, data collection and processing, results, conclusions and references.
The student presents his/her results orally to an expert jury and is able to respond to the questions adequately.
