3. Course contents *

This course deals with theories and research in the field of television studies, focusing in particular on the impact of digitisation and convergence.

As a theoretical foundation, we start by discussing the discipline of television studies.

Then, we take a closer look at the history, evolution and key characteristics of the medium.

In a next step, we zoom in on different aspects of television: production, distribution, programmes and audiences.

A key issue, throughout the course, concerns the impact of digitisation and convergence on these different aspect of television: continuities and changes, and the blurring of boundaries between different aspects of television.
