3. Course contents *

This course deals with international families, that is, family formations with international aspects. It examines both private international law aspects and initiatives of unification and harmonisation of family law. It focuses on current challenges, such as the impact of new formations of family life, superdiversity on family formations and issues of matrimonial property. It applies law in context methods. The course investigates individuals’ and families’ rights and obligations (both personal and patrimonial), and the autonomy they have to define those rights and obligations themselves.
