Part on air pollution. Air pollutants (gases, dust of aerosols; primary and secondary components). Pollution sources. Measurement techniques and the use of measuring apparatus (analysis of CO, SO2, NO and NO2, hydrocarbons, ozone and oxidants; classification of test sampling methods). Biological and ecological consequences of air pollution (a.o. air pollution effects on vegetation). Preventive measures and remedy techniques: formulation of emission and immission values and TLV-norms; assessment and interpretation of laws on air pollution control (norms, height of the chimneys, inventarisation, control, decontamination, production standards,...). Odour nuisance: the atmospheric distribution of odour components is examined and the analysis of sources, control methods and policy aspects are discussed.
