This course treats logistics at industrial economic as well as macro-economic level. At industrial economic level, logistics is dealt with from a chain approach (Supply Chain Management). Various topics, like physical distribution, stock management, forecasting and stock and handling systems are dealt with. The step towards macro-economic level is made by analysing company location choice. In this, the important trends that show up in globalised logistics and expedition are treated. The distinguishing role of Flanders as a logistics top region in Europe in this regard is important. Innovative logistics concepts, in particular those in relation to outsourcing, partnerships and value added logistics are extensively dealt with.
