3. Course contents *

The lectures clarify the theory of the geotechnical stability design. Different geotechnical constructions will be dealt with: soilturning walls and quay walls, dam walls, inclines and pile groups. Finally, the calculation of girder on elastic channels will be discussed. Calculations will be made according to the deterministic method and Eurocode 7.

During the seminars; theory will be put into practice:
1. Earth pressures on turning constructions: active, passive and neutral earth pressures
2. Stability of soilturning walls and quay walls; Eurocode 7 method
3. Stability of dam walls
4. Stability of pile groups: position of use, and succumb position
5. Stability of inclines
