3. Course contents *

International Organization describes the ways in which “the modern society of nations governs itself.” The course focuses on multilateral international cooperation. Students will become acquainted with the rules and politics of some of the world’s most important international institutions (UN, WTO, IMF, World Bank, ICJ, ICC). Many a commentator has announced the decline of multilateralism. We will examine that thesis with reference to a range of practical issues (security, humanitarianism, the environment) and from a range of theoretical and political perspectives.
