This course presents an overview of how “Omics” techniques (with a focus on genomics, proteomics, metabolomics) are used to study the effects of global climate change on plant, animal and microbiome from a Systems Biology perspective.
It will introduce the technical basis of the different methods, the analysis and interpretation of the data in the context of global change studies. A second part involves a short overview of the most important bio-informatics approaches that are important for Omics data analysis. Finally, other Omics techniques (e.g. Phenomics, Phosphoproteomics, Interactomics) and the possibilities to integrate data obtained with different techniques into regulatory networks (genome-wide and pathway-level interaction maps) will be discussed.
