The first part of the course discusses dangerous chemical products in general. The risks associated with the type and the condition of the chemicals for humans and the environment is dealt with. An overview of the different detection- and analysis methods of dangerous products is also given. A large focus will be put on the safety aspects during work, transport and storage of dangerous chemicals. The policy initiatives for the prevention of serious accidents in chemical industry involving these dangerous products are discussed.

The second part deals with the most important environmentally dangerous chemical products in more detail: their possible entries in the environment, toxicological properties, effects on humans and the environment, limit values and norms.
