3. Course contents *

At master's level, every student is given the opportunity to replace the second educational subject by a profileringsvak, in this case Meer (-) talig onderwijs, either out of necessity (e.g. insufficient domain-specific background to take a second educational subject) or out of interest. In accordance with the wishes of the professional field, all students are given a basis on these themes, in didactics or general educational courses, but the profileringsvak goes into more depth on the respective topic.

The choice for this profileringsvak stems from a current educational need and from priority policy themes of the government, and was confirmed by the results of a survey of students and alumni in the academic year 2017-2018. This survey showed a great deal of interest in both the possibility of applying for a profileringsvak and the specific interpretation of this course.

Specific learning content

Meer (-) talig onderwijs comprises two substantive modules with their own learning content, with the second focus building on the first. The first focus is (more) on language-oriented vocational training and language policy, the second on CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning). After an  introductory session that provides students with insight into the possibilities for linguistic development and support in education, they successively follow the modules "language-oriented vocational training and language policy" and "CLIL".
