3. Course contents *

Introduction:
- concepts such as primary and secondary energy
- overview of most energy processes in the form of a Sankey diagram gives more meaning to concepts such as heat recovery and free cooling, so that these processes and their combinations are easier to evaluate in terms of the primary energy requirement.

Steam for thermal applications: boiler house, distribution system, steam consumers and condensate return.

Steam in power plants: steam turbines and rankin process (thermodynamic optimization and cogeneration).

Cooling: passive cooling (dry coolers, cooling towers and hybrid systems: wet / dry, passive / active) and active cooling (especially compression cooling, also multi-stage cooling, direct and indirect cooling).

Seminars:
System optimization with excel (rankine) and EES (cooling).
Being able to estimate preconditions.
Assessment of the results.
