3. Course contents *

Industrial engineering (1 credit):

Typical topics of ergonomics are covered.  The focus lies on: human aspects, interaction with devices, environment, social aspects and ergonomic design.

Robotics (2 credits):

Some definitions, features and the necessary figures are presented to the student, using an historical overview during the theoretical classes. This will help them to situate the robot within the industrial world. The part that covers the mechanical construction of an industrial robot links armconfigurations and coordination systems on the one hand and on the other hand descriptions of locations, speed and gears. These aspects will be illustrated on the basis of different industrial robots in a technological centre. 

The main part treats position, velocity and acceleration. The construction of the arm has a big influence on the mechanical construction of the robot. All those aspects are also studied in practice with the aid of machines in the laboratory.

Due to the fact that in Robotics many specific mechanical components (harmonic drives, cyclo drives, ...) are frequently used, we will focus on that. The description of the different effectors (claws and tools) will pave the way to an industrial implementation of industrial robots. A film helps to clarify the circumstances when the application of robots is useful.
