3. Course contents *

During the tutorials the most important curriculum components of teaching Dutch as a second/foreign language will be dealt with:
- how to teach the four language skills with technical and communicative competence;
- how to teach words (building up a vocabulary in L2);
- how to teach grammar (building up language structure and rules in L2).
In line with our approach of interweaving theory and practice, the following subjects are dealt with in an integrated way:
- analysing pupils' entry levels;
- setting educational objectives and making them operational;
- instructional design (organizing in phases, grouping and differentiating between pupils);
- choosing teaching methods in line with the objectives and the target group;
- selecting teaching materials and other teaching aids;
- assessing the curriculum components.

Dealing with heterogeneous target groups is an important point of attention.
