The course starts with an overview of descriptive statistics and an introduction on probability theory. The main focus is on hypothesis testing and inferential statistics.

The following topics are dealth with

Quantitative methods:

  • Samples level of measurement
  • Descriptive statistics (graphical respresentations, measures of central tendency and variation, distribution functions, main statistical distributions, contingency tables, ...)
  • Hypothesis testing (null hypothesis, test statistic, p-value, type I and II error, ...)
  • Parametric tests (t-tests, F-tests, ...)
  • Non-parametric tests (chi2-tests, Wilcoxon test, ...)
  • Correlation between variables
  • Linear regression

Throughout the course, we give attention to performing, reporting, reading and interpreting quantitative statistical analyses with SPSS.
