At the start of this course the student should have acquired the following competences:
- competences corresponding the final attainment level of secondary school

Basic general chemistry skills from Bachelor level chemistry are necessary. This knowledge is refreshed the first 16 hours of the course.
You need to be able to reason and reflect fast about this basic chemical knowlegde and find the necessary information quickly if needed to be able to bring all essential elements together to assess the risks and solutions in incidents.
a passive knowledge of
Part of the information necessary for the cases and self study are from English sources such as www.csb.gov or scientific papers etc.
- general knowledge of the use of a PC and the Internet
general notion of the basic concepts of
Ability to find information on the internet and in books quickly (good combination of search terms)
Critical assessment of information found on the internet
specific prerequisites for this course
Knowldege on the use of chemistry cards, safety information sheets, SDS etc. Knowledge on the definition and insight in the fast and efficient use of the information inside these safety information sources.
It is expected that all students are acquainted with the basic principle in mathematics, physical chemistry and physics. This includes: logaritmic scales versus linear scales, periodic system of the elements, phase diagrams etc.
