In this research line, we are dedicated to examining both healthy and psychopathological facets of human sexuality. Our multifaceted research consists of several distinct lines of inquiry:

  • One research line has a primary focus on unravelling the (neuro)psychological underpinnings of self-regulation problems in individuals with problematic sexual behaviours and paraphilias.
  • The "Stop it Now!" child sexual abuse prevention program serves as an integral component of our research. Our efforts are concentrated on the approach of our target audiences (internet offenders, minor attracted persons and their inner circle) and assessing the effects of self-stigmatisation and public and professional attitudes surrounding the prevention of sexual offences against minors.
  • Another line aims at understanding the prevalence rates and the intricate interplay of social, cultural, and psychological factors that drive non-normative, yet consensual, forms of sexuality and intimacy. Our investigations span a wide array of subjects, encompassing BDSM fantasies and practices, as well as consensual and non-consensual non-monogamy.
