We are delighted to announce that the University of Antwerp, Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Training and Education Sciences will host the EARLI Special Interest Group 14 “Learning and Professional Development” Conference from 16–18 September 2026. The event will be preceded by a half-day JURE-SIG 14 pre-conference on 15 September 2026.

Conference Theme: Learning Works! 

Learning and work are increasingly recognized as inseparable. Work provides powerful opportunities for learning, while learning is essential for effective, innovative, and sustainable work. This connection also shapes the design of education and training, where work experiences take centre stage in formats such as internships and simulations. At the heart of the conference lies the question: How do learning and work processes interact, and how can we design environments that foster both? 

Call for Submissions 

We welcome contributions that directly engage with the conference theme, as well as submissions addressing broader and timely topics related to work and education as contexts for professional learning and development.

SIG 14 brings together a diverse community of researchers who share an interest in how individuals, groups, and organizations learn in professional contexts.

• Opening of submission system: December 1, 2025
• Submission deadline: 30th of January 2026
• Reviews due: 31th of March 2026
• Reviews decisions: April 2026
• Early bird deadline & presenter registration deadline: 15th of May 2026

The JURE pre-conference will be hosted on Tuesday the 15th of September 2026 starting at 14:00h.

The SIG14 conference will start on Wednesday16th of September 2026 and end on Thursday the 18th of September.
