
Gabriela Carvalho holds a degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Franca (2008) and earned both her Master’s (2012) and PhD (2016) in Rehabilitation and Functional Performance from the Ribeirão Preto Medical School at the University of São Paulo, Brazil. She completed two postdoctoral fellowships: the first at the University of São Paulo under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Débora Bevilaqua-Grossi, and the second at the University of Lübeck under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Arne May and Prof. Dr. Kerstin Luedtke, where she also earned her habilitation in 2024. She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Physiotherapy at the University of Furtwangen, Germany. Her clinical and research interests center on the intersection of chronic pain and functional performance, with a particular emphasis on the measurement properties of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs), as well as musculoskeletal and neurological conditions – especially primary headaches. Dr. Carvalho has authored more than 70 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals, which have collectively received over 1,600 citations. She maintains active international collaborations and leads research projects investigating headache disorders and chronic pain.
