René Castien is a senior researcher at the Department of Human Movement Sciences, Faculty of Behavioural and Movement Sciences, Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam, the Netherlands. After receiving his PhD, Dr. René Castien started as a senior researcher at the Department of General Practice & elderly care medicine Amsterdam UMC (2014) and at the Department of Human Movement Science, Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam (2017). His research is published in international journals, and he has presented the results of his work at (inter)national conferences, workshops, and masterclasses. Recent research is focussed on the effectiveness and working mechanisms of manual therapy on headaches.
Besides his academic activities René works as a specialized manual therapist in a primary care Headache Centre.
