On 3 April 2025, Katrien Schaubroeck will give a publicly accessible Spectrum lecture at the University of Antwerp entitled De groene dood: ecologisch denken over uitvaart (in Dutch). More information and registration here

The yearly Antwerpse Dag van de Filosofie will take place on 6 April 2025. Our project is involved in the organization of (Dutch) lecture De groene dood: hoe zorgen we voor een duurzaam afscheid? with Christien Klaufus and Katrien Schaubroeck. More info and tickets at the website of De Singel.​

We are facilitating an online book club on the book Playing Possum: How Animals Understand Death by Susana Monso. The first meeting will take place on 24 April at 12PM CET. We will be discussing the first two chapters of the book. All information can be found on the page about the book club. The meetings are open to all!

The study day Farewell in Antwerp ​will take place on 29 April 2025. The day will be organised by the organisations PAREL and Orbit vzw. A wide range of workshops and sessions will reflect on the themes of the end of life and funeral from different philosophical and religious perspectives. Most sessions will be in Dutch, but a few will be in English. More information and a registration link are available on their website.

On 25 June 2025, we will host a publicly accessible lunch lecture. Anna Suwalowska will come to speak about bringing science and art together in the context of the dead body. Her lecture Death in the Mind's Eye will be followed by a round table and a ritual with the audience and artist-researchers Bart Vandeput (Bartaku), Christina Stadlbauer & Anaïs Chabeur. The event will take place at the UAntwerpen city campus. Online registration is also possible. More information to follow on the event page.

Many of our researchers will be participating in the 17th conference on the Social Context of Death, Dying, and Disposal (DDD17) in Utrecht between 27 and 30 August 2025. This year's theme is Politics of Death. Visit their website for more information and register before Friday 16 May.
