We are pleased to announce the DiplomatiCon Seminars, a new webinar series focused on Mediterranean diplomacy between the 13th and 15th centuries. This series brings together doctoral researchers and early-career scholars working on diplomatic exchanges, communication practices, and cross-cultural mediation in the pre-modern Mediterranean.

About the Series

The seminars are organized through a collaboration between the University of Liège, University of Antwerp, University of Bologna, University of Barcelona, and the CSIC-IMF (Barcelona). The organizing committee consists of Evelina del Mercato, Giacomo Mastrogregori, Gianluca Ratti, Marta Manso Rubio, Michele Argentini, and Queralt Penedès Fradera.

The series aims to provide a platform for researchers to present their work on various aspects of medieval diplomacy, from diplomatic correspondence and trade networks to political tensions and rhetorical strategies.

Format and Accessibility

All seminars will be held online and recorded. The recordings will be made available on this platform for those who cannot attend the live sessions. This format allows for broader participation from researchers and students interested in medieval diplomacy and Mediterranean studies. Each recording will be posted in this section of the blog, creating a resource for future reference and study.

The seminars are open to scholars, students, and anyone interested in medieval history and diplomacy. Participants can engage with current research in the field and join discussions about diplomatic practices in the pre-modern Mediterranean.
