Our project will focus on strengthening research capacities through action research using Citizen Science and AI as research methods.

Researchers and students will actively participate through dissertations, research internships, and ongoing PhD studies

Researchers from IOB, Mzumbe, and NM-AIST will collaboratively develop an multidisciplinary research agenda, structured around three categories:

  • multidisciplinary action research on water
  • interdisciplinary action research on climate change resilience, and
  • action research on Citizen Science/ Community Based Monitoring, including the application of AI.

Our research is multidisciplinary, drawing on diverse expertise to address the interconnectedness of water, climate change, and community-based monitoring, actively involving citizens in their communities.

This multidisciplinary action research aims not only to enhance research knowledge among staff and students but also to improve understanding among citizens and duty bearers,
ensuring that the resulting information informs better decision-making for water management and climate change adaptation.

Findings will be disseminated through policy briefs, community posters, blogs, and newspapers & journal articles, contributing to broader knowledge sharing and policy influence.
