Following the the info evening on Gaza by the Faculty of Medice and Health Sciences on 3 April 2025, more than 400 staff members and students signed an open letter addressed to the rectoral team. A follow-up meeting took place in November and led to the establishment of a dedicated “Palestine Task Force” under the Global Engagement working group.
The task force has a dual mission: to develop actions and partnerships, both locally and in the region, that support academic education for Palestinian students and scholars. Its work includes communication and fundraising, facilitating partnerships with Palestinian universities, and creating support for individual students and scholars.
The task force will be chaired by Katrien Schaubroeck and will bring together expertise from across the university.
