Flanders Make Academy and Digital Twins

In today’s industrial landscape, digital twins are becoming increasingly prevalent, pushing digitalization efforts to new heights. A digital twin is a virtual representation of a physical entity that enables a dynamic, interactive feedback loop between the real and digital worlds.

Take, for example, the development of a new manufacturing line. Rather than moving directly into physical design and construction, a digital twin allows for virtual experimentation and optimization. This approach can uncover new ways to maximize efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize risks—making digital twins a powerful asset for industrial partners.

However, digital twins remain a relatively new concept, and not all industrial or societal stakeholders possess the necessary expertise to leverage them effectively. At Flanders Make, we are committed to bridging this gap through our involvement in the European “Digital Twin Academy Project.” This initiative connects academia with industry and society, helping to educate and empower stakeholders on the potential and implementation of digital twin technology.

Though the Flanders Make Academy is a recent addition to our organization, it has already seen significant success, attracting participants from across the globe. We bring together our expertise with the needs of industry leaders, students, executives, and other professionals, fostering innovation and collaboration around digital twin solutions.
