Thomas Yaw Voets works at the Public International Law Directorate of the Belgian Federal Public Service for Foreign Affairs, where his responsibilities include preparing the Belgian position in Law of the Sea files and advising multiple stakeholders on issues of Public International Law. In this capacity, he is also a member of of the Belgian delegation to the COMAR Working Party (Working Party of the Council of the European Union on the Law of the Sea) and provides his expertise during ongoing negotiations at the International Seabed Authority and the United Nations.

Before joining the Belgian Federal Public Service for Foreign Affairs, Thomas worked as an assistant in European Union law at the University Antwerp, in the cabinet of a Member of the European Parliament, and as an intern at Belgium's Permanent Representation to the United Nations and other international organisations based in Geneva. Thomas holds two Master's degrees in Law and International Relations, both from the University of Antwerp.
