Thomas Huttinga is a PhD researcher at the University of Antwerp, where he will focus on European citizenship and identity.
Thomas previously worked at the Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) and lectured at Leiden University and Utrecht University in the Netherlands. He studied Law (BA) and European Law (LLM) at Leiden University and completed an Erasmus exchange at Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas (Paris II).
In addition to his academic writing, he has published several books on European identity, culture, and history. In 2024, he published his book Waarom we Europeaan zijn (Why We Are European). His newest book, Supermacht Europa: de weg naar onafhankelijkheid (Superpower Europe: The Path to Independence), will be published by Ten Have in November 2026.
